FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Charlotte Observer, The (NC) , July 12, 2006, Section: FOOD, Edition: ONE-THREE, Page: 3E Column: Sip of the Week ''SIP OF THE WEEK'' KATHLEEN PURVIS, Staff Writer Proshyan Pomegranate Wine, Armenia, $8.49-$10. Packed with antioxidants, pomegranates may seem the latest food fashion. But they're nothing new in Armenia, where both pomegranates and winemaking date back thousands of years. When you put them together, you get an unusual wine. The label promises "semi-sweet," and it is, but the pomegranate tartness keeps it from being too sweet. Charlotte-based Ararat Import/Export is making sure it's available all over, including Harris Teeter, The Wine Shop, NoFo on Liz, Mike's Discount Beverage, Laurel Market South and Talley's.
